Catch-up project, then an optional monthly close

Books that are not closed yet.

We work through receipts, invoices, and statements month by month: categorisation, reconciliation, and a written note of what is fixed and what is still open. From $200 per month behind. The quote comes after the fit check. Simple books can be lower. Complex books are higher.

What people usually send

  • Two to twelve months, or more, of uncategorised transactions
  • Receipts in email, Slack, or a drive folder with an unhelpful name
  • A CPA asking for numbers you cannot produce without a weekend
  • A founder who would rather ship than reconstruct last quarter by hand

Month by month, until you are current

  • Capture. Invoices, receipts, and bank or export data for each open month.
  • Categorisation. Consistent categories. Undocumented spend flagged in writing.
  • Reconciliation. Accounts matched, so the backlog is not only sorted in name.
  • Written catch-up summary. What closed, the exceptions, and a recommended ongoing rhythm.

Not included: tax filing, tax advice, or an audit. We prepare books your CPA can use.

Catch-up pricing, said plainly

Catch-up is from $200 per month behind. That is the public starting point, not a flat fee for every set of books. We quote after the fit check. Simple, clean books can be lower. Complex books are higher. Then you can move onto Starter or Standard if you want an ongoing close.

Illustrative examples only. Final quote after the fit check.

Illustrative

Simple, 3 months behind → then Starter

Situation: One entity. QBO or Xero already in place. Receipts mostly in one place. Few transfers to untangle.

Illustrative catch-up range: about $600–$900 (3 × from $200/mo behind, adjusted for simplicity).

Then ongoing: Starter from $299/mo (async monthly close only, no admin).

Illustrative

Messy, 6 months behind → then Standard

Situation: Mixed Stripe/PayPal exports, email receipts, categorisation drift, and a CPA asking for numbers. You also want light admin after you are current.

Illustrative catch-up range: about $1,500–$2,400+ (6 months × complexity above the floor).

Then ongoing: Standard from $449/mo (close + light admin, 3 hr/mo hard cap). A Standard promo of $399/mo is available on request; $449 is the published price.

“Quote before work” contrast

How Meridian works: fit check → scoped quote → work starts. You see the number before we dig into the backlog.

How some other offers work: free or cheap catch-up tied to a long annual commitment, or a large fixed onboard fee before you know fit. Those can be fine for some teams. We prefer a clear project quote and an optional monthly retainer you choose after the baseline is clean.

How catch-up works

  1. Fit check. Software, approximate months behind, access constraints. Catch-up is noted on the form.
  2. Scoped quote. A project based on months and complexity, not an open clock.
  3. Access and batch work. We work async. You answer a short exception list when needed.
  4. Handoff. A clean baseline and a summary. Option to continue on Starter or Standard.

Typical kickoff is within one to two weeks of approved access. Duration depends on the months behind and how complete the source data is.

After the backlog

Most teams move onto a monthly close so the same pile does not rebuild. Starter is the close only. Standard adds inbox triage, scheduling, and document handling inside a 3 hours a month cap. Monthly bookkeeping.

FAQ

How do you count months behind?

Open periods without a completed close and reconciliation. Partial months are scoped in the quote.

What if I only want catch-up, not monthly?

That is fine. Catch-up is a project. Ongoing Starter or Standard is optional.

Is catch-up a flat $200 for every month?

No. $200 per month behind is the public starting point. We quote after the fit check. Simple, clean books can be lower. Complex books (more entities, messy source data, a long backlog) are higher.

Will this fix my taxes?

We organise the books. Your CPA files and advises. We coordinate the handoff.

What slows catch-up down?

Missing statements, locked accounts, or unclear owner draws. We list blockers early so you can unblock them async.
